Entitled “How Russia Often Benefits When Julian Assange Reveals the West's Secrets,” the hit-piece attempts to smear the Wikileaks founder as a Russian lackey with zero regard for human rights. It's important to note Assange committed the grave sin of attacking Hillary Clinton during his NYT interview on Wednesday.
“The American liberal press, in falling over themselves to defend Hillary Clinton, are erecting a demon that is going to put nooses around everyone’s necks as soon as she wins the election, which is almost certainly what she’s going to do,” Assange said during the live interview.
The media has now joined Hillary in portraying Russia as an international boogeyman in what appears to be a bad case of Cold War dimentia.
“Whether by conviction, convenience or coincidence, WikiLeaks’ document releases, along with many of Mr. Assange’s statements, have often benefited Russia, at the expense of the West,” the NYT article said.
Wikileaks has been critical of the mainstream media throughout the 2016 election cycle. On July 25, Assange described his reasoning behind not collaborating with the American press during the Democratic National Committee leaks.
“But in this case, we knew, because of the pending DNC, because of the degree of interest in the U.S. election, we didn’t need to establish partnerships with The New York Times or The Washington Post,” Assange said in an interview with Democracy Now.
“In fact, that might be counterproductive, because they are partisans of one group or another. Rather, we took the data set, analyzed it, verified it, made it in a presentable, searchable form, presented it for all journalists and the public to mine. And that’s exactly what has happened.”
"WikiLeaks has published more than 650,000 documents about Russian & president Putin, most of which is critical," the free-speech group said in their official response.
Perhaps, these distinguished NYT journalists should be asking themselves if they've become "a laundering machine" for corrupt politicians and Wall Street banks.
This latest fight between Wikileaks and the mainstream media demonstrates how our press has devolved into the propaganda arm of the establishment.
Last Sunday, new DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile lashed out against Julian Assange during her interview with ABC News.
“The notion that we’re going let some person, you know, put out personal sensitive information across the world, jeopardizing people’s privacy, and we’re interviewing him as if he’s going to have a smoking gun for October. The smoking gun is that we’re interviewing somebody who is involved in a cybercrime and not calling him a criminal,” Brazile said.
As the media attacks Wikileaks, they turn a blind eye to the real scandal of our corrupt political system.
The leaks revealed how the DNC openly opposed Bernie Sanders, thinking up ways to slander him as an atheist Jew or poorly organized. Instead of focusing on the DNC's corruption, the media focused on the origin of the leaks, attempting to connect Wikileaks or Trump with Putin.
The media blackout on all the data leaks of 2016 demonstrates how embedded they've become within the establishment. NBC Universal, News Corporation, Turner Broadcasting and Thomson Reuters are a few examples of the countless media groups donating to the Clinton Foundation.
“But no one knows who our source is. It’s simply speculation. It’s, I think, interesting and acceptable to speculate who our sources are,” Assange said in the Democracy Now interview.
“And the DNC has been hacked dozens and dozens of times. Even according to its own reports, it had been hacked extensively over the last few years.”
“The important thing here is what the public was shown. That is what the discussion should focus on. One shouldn’t draw the public attention from the core of the issue by replacing it with secondary details like who did it,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a Bloomberg interview on Thursday.
